I am to experiment with using telephony audio codecs to rip apart voices, and reassemble them with a different timbre. Imagine speaking into your cell phone, and Samuel L Jackson or Darth Vader comes out.
I am musically challenged.
I have done DSP software to analyze sub audible tones in amateur radio and public safety transmissions, to decode 18WPM morse code on a 1MHZ processor with 4K of RAM, and to decode DTMF touch tones on a modern machine in Perl by ripping apart WAV files with the stored audio. My knowledge of modern GUI programming (eg Xcode, Eclipse, etc) is very primitive.
I'm a computer scientist and network engineer. I do digital signal processing for fun, and would like to apply that to audio at some point. I don't really have time for another project, but I wanted to lurk about and follow the group for a while.
