Meet other women in your community for friendship! Gather with women in your local area who share the same goals and interests as you. Whether you are new to the area or have been here for years, you are encouraged to join. Newcomers is also a great organization for women who have recently gone though any major life changes, besides just moving into the area. We welcome all women looking for a fun social group.
What is Madison Newcomers?
The Madison Newcomers Club has been an active organization in the Madison area since the early 1970’s. The goal of this organization is to give women who are new to the area, or have recently had a change of lifestyle (such as recently gotten married, divorced, had a baby, retired, ect.) opportunities to meet other women in the area for a variety of social activities.
How is Newcomers different from other groups on Meetup.com?
We are a long standing organization for over 40 years in the Madison area. We are not a traditional Meetup.com group. We simply use Meetup as a tool to recruit new members, easy communication and a posting of our events. We do charge yearly dues.
Why do we charge dues?
Member dues cover the cost of running the Meetup site. We also cover all or part of the cost of some events throughout the year. Finally, part of our income goes back into the community though different volunteer events held throughout the year.
Can I try out the club before paying dues?
We allow interested women to join as a Guest for free for one month so that they can try out one or two events and meet some of the members before deciding if this is a group they want to belong to.
What types of events do we have?
We offer a wide variety of events, including Bunco, Scrapbooking, Dining Group, Movie Nights/Afternoons, Book Club, Team Trivia, Coffee get-togethers and a variety of volunteer opportunities. We are always looking for new ideas of fun events to do.
