January Main Line Writers Group meeting - UNCLAIMED BAGGAGE publishing review

The JANUARY Main Line Writers Group meeting - Wednesday, January 15 - UNCLAIMED BAGGAGE publishing review.

Our group's first-ever collection, Unclaimed Baggage, is now available in both print and ebook formats. You can hold it in your hands (hopefully you bought it and actually can hold it in your hands). But that was ONLY PART of what this project was about.

We wanted our group to learn the many steps associated with the process of self-publishing. We want to understand what we could have done better. And we want to turn it into a tool kit for group members who want to self-publish in the future.

Our January meeting will be a discussion of the project from conception to implementation. A panel of group members closely involved with the project will respond to prepared and spontaneous questions from the moderator and the group. The meeting itself will be a great "how to" review on a self-publishing project and the steps involved. Responses will become part of the tool kit. Come to learn, share your views, and help us determine our next publishing project.

Our meeting place is Michael's Restaurant Deli in King of Prussia, just north of The King of Prussia Mall on Rt 202. The address is 130 Town Center Road in King of Prussia,[masked]-3265. The meeting officially starts at 7:00 pm but many of us come early (around 6:00 pm) to eat and socialize a bit - but you can order your meal at any time during the meeting. We use a private room and the acoustics are great. You'll have no problem hearing our speakers or each other.

Just a reminder that you can order a scrumptious meal at Michael's off their extensive menu. We don't get charged for the great room, but Michaels does have the expectation that attendees will order a meal. It is a fair expectation and the meals are very reasonably priced.

Mark your calendar for every third Wednesday of the month. Feel free to tell others and bring a friend or two.

As usual, any questions, please contact me, Gary Zenker, at[masked] or [masked]. We are all looking forward to seeing you there.

Great wrap up on the group's first project. A lot of work by a lot of people who can be proud of the accomplishment. I am looking forward to the next project!

Much time and effort was put into this process so I echo many others in the group with a thank you to all who made it happen. And to Gary for his leadership and direction that he puts forth month after month. Good meeting with many insights gained and lessons learned for the future.

Unless one was part of the process of getting Unclaimed Baggage published, it would be difficult for someone like me to grasp how much hard work must have been involved. I would like to thank everyone for what I think is a wonderful book. I know God willing over the years I will read its stories several times over, as I do with books I really enjoy.

Then we'll just drag you into the next production project so you can really feel it! Thank you on behalf of the group for the compliments.

It was a great meeting to go through what we learned from publishing our book, although I hope some of the folks for whom this was their first meeting come back. I realize this might have not been the best first meeting for someone not familiar with the project we did. Looking forward to determining what we do next, and of course to next month's critique night!

Holy cow! What an amazing group of insightful people. Thanks to the panel of people who honestly assessed the things that worked and the things we would change in doing our book project. And thanks to the members who also weighed in on the same target and challenged us for improving the next project. Awesome side conversations with so many people.

According my latest email from Amazon.com the copies of Unclaimed Baggage that i ordered will be arriving in a day or two. I am looking forward to seeing what the people I break bread with every third Wednesday of the month have to offer. Like a proud parent I am certain I will be pleased. I am also looking forward to the next meeting and learning more about how Unclaimed Baggage came about.
