http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/1/2/2/2/event_189544642.jpeg3D Printing is one of the most powerful technologies available to the Maker - and the most requested topic that MakeIt NYC members have. If you have questions about 3D Printing, being at our next meeting is a must.
Please Note Change of Date
MakeIt NYC is proud to present two leaders of 3D Printing, one a service, the other a printer manufacturer, to answer your questions. Both will be speaking on the same topic - how 3D Printing impacts the design process and prototyping efforts - and we'll be adding extra Q&A time to get all of your question answered.
Perhaps the most well-known outlet for 3D Printing, and my personal favorite, is Shapeways (http://www.shapeways.com), the preeminent 3D Printing service and marketplace worldwide. Duann Scott, Shapeways' Designer Evangelist, will be speaking about how Shapeways is a terrific resource for prototyping and physical object design. Shapeways has offices in Manhattan and production facilities in Long Island City.
Everybody knows that one of the most innovative 3D Printer startups is located in Brooklyn. No, not that one. I'm talking about the cool company that's generated 60 manufacturing jobs in NYC - Solidoodle (http://www.solidoodle.com)! Solidoodle not only ships some of the most innovative printers around, but they do it a a breakthrough price - starting under $500 - designed and manufactured in Brooklyn. John and Raffaele of Solidoodle talk about why having a 3D printer on your desk is a must for the design and prototyping.

All attendees will be entered into a drawing for free passes to the Inside 3D Printing Conference & Expo, at Javits on 4/22-4/23. And one lucky winner gets a Gold Passport to the event, a $1000 value! (And check the "Membership Perks" in the left-hand column - all MakeIt NYC members get a 15% discount).
We'll also be featuring a presentation from NYCEDC about their New York's Next Top Maker Competition (http://nexttopmakers.com/). If you haven't gotten your application in yet, what are you waiting for? Be at the meeting to get your questions answered about this amazing opportunity.
And we have two amazing member presentations:
Aaron Trocola of 40WestID (http://40westid.com/) is an industrial designer who specializes in creating custom products with 3D printing. He'll be discussing how brings his creations to life with 3D scanning and tools such as 123D Catch.
Karl Biewald of AXN|RXN Engineering (http://www.axn-rxn.com/) will showing his Wizard Clip for the first time anywhere. I've seen this, and it's simple, fun and amazing. Karl talks about how he used SolidWorks and 3D printing, the initial idea, iterating and debugging, and costing. The Wizard Clip will be on Kickstarter very soon, so come see how a future monster Kickstarter success happened.
Doors open at 7:00 for setup, presentations start at 7:30. Feel free to drop by early for some informal meet and greet!
Pizza and beverages will be served
