In addition to our monthly book club meetings - where we will be discussing the books that inspired the founders of Meetup.com - we are also developing several small working groups to focus on specific interests vis a vis our Meetup experience.
The second of our working groups will be devoted to the Meetup API. With the launch of the new site design in June of this year, Meetup also made available an Application Programming Interface, providing developers the opportunity to extend the reach and power of the Meetup.com platform. More information about the API can be found here:
We will be using this working group to explore the creation of new applications, including the development of a suite of Meetup digital dashboard tools to help residents of Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties make the most of their Meetup experience. To learn more about digital dashboards, see here:
We will be developing these applications and others using a combination of Yahoo! Pipes, Perl modules (in development), and AJAX frameworks (to be selected).
If you'd like leverage your technical knowhow or to share your expertise, this is your opportunity. If you're interested in picking up some new skills, or just curious what all the strange words and acronyms in this event listing are all about, please, join us!
Mo'Joe Cafe is on the corner of Mineola Boulevard and 2nd Street: right next to LIRR Mineola Station. Peak trains from Penn Station at 5:23, 5:33, and 5:51 arrive shortly be our 6:45 p.m. start time. (The 6:08 train arrives minutes after.) Return trip is off-peak.
By vehicle, traveling south from Jericho Turnpike, turn right on 2nd Street, just before the overpass, and it's right in front of you; traveling north from Old Country Road, make a left at the bottom of the overpass, and it's right there.

Doesn't look like a crowd. Think we probably need 5 or 6.
Happy to attend with a small group - ain't got it yet.
