Highest Peak in Malibu-- Saturday, March 7th

Details

This is a fairly challenging hike-- it's longer than most. The hike is a little over 8 miles and I don't know the elevation gain, but Mt. Allen (Sandstone Peak) is 3111ft. It will be about a 3 hour loop. We'll sign in at the top of Mt. Allen with some time to be in aww of the view from the top of the rocks!

Bring lots of water and a couple of snacks. By RSVPing, you agree that YOU are responsible for your safety and hydration. BRING LOTS OF WATER! We won't stop a lot, we'll try to keep things rolling with not a lot of lolly gagging. Let's make this a workout but let's keep our eyes open for the beauty all around us.

Drive up Yerba Buena to the 7.0 mile marker--there is a parking lot to the right in the dirt. You'll drive past Circle X ranch on the right, and past the Sandstone Peak parking area on the left. Park in the lot at the curve in the road with the 7.0 mile marker sign right in it.

TO BE SURE: The DRIVE UP YERBA BUENA IS AN ADVENTURE IN ITSELF. Just go at the speed that feels comfortable and you'll get there. The road winds and curves and is very narrow with no shoulder. Just pay attention and keep moving forward, you'll get there!

From Brentwood on a Saturday morning, it takes a little over an hour to get there. There is no parking fee but it is a long drive so I highly recommend carpooling--plus, there's not a lot of parking spots!

This really is a hike not to be missed. It's rural and rustic and out of the way and that's why it's special. Plus, on a clear day, after some rain, the views are magnificent!

We will be leaving on time so get there early and don't stress. You're gonna love this one!!!
