3D paper sculptures

Details

It's time to get crafting! For our first ever Meetup in my studio I've chosen this deceptively simple craft technique using not much more than newspaper and sticky tape. Places are limited so RSVP as soon as possible.

Inspiration for our activity:
Inspiration comes from the artist Barbara Kobylinska. She makes these amazing semi abstract birds. Have a look at my Pinterest board Meetup Inspiration - Barbara Kobylinska (https://www.pinterest.com/artfulantics/meetup-inspiration-barbara-kobylinska/) for more ideas. Why not make some simple drawings of your own ideas or print out images to bring with you!

We will be making our own versions of her decorative bird creatures - either from your imagination or taking ideas from her sculptures.

How will we make ours?
The basic shape is made from newspaper and sticky tape, with colour and pattern added with collage papers and glue. As long as you don't over complicate things you should be able to create all sorts of shapes and types of birds. They're great for sitting on your bookshelf or by your computer. Its a simple technique but it can get addictive.

Use my Materials
Please bring £3 (additional to the Meetup charge)

Bring your own Materials;
Please bring...
about 3-5 old newspapers (Metro, SUN or The Guardian - we're not fussy!)
Sellotape 2, 3 or 4 rolls (eg. each 18/24mm wide x 50m length)
Empty small drinks can (coke, fanta, redbull etc)
Tissue paper or thin coloured/decorative paper for the collage covering.
