Chris Seaton (www.chrisseaton.com) will be giving a talk and a demo on the Graal project.

"The Graal project is an implementation of the JVM's JIT compiler in Java. This isn't just an academic exercise - by writing the JIT in Java we can also expose it as a Java library to the program that it is running. This allows a whole new way of writing JVM languages - they can have direct access to the JIT rather than emitting Java bytecode. Chris is working on applying this technology to JRuby, where a 10x speed gain can be demonstrated on real-world code."
