Mandarin Trivia Night!

A first of its kind event for our meetup group, welcome to the first ever Mandarin Trivia Night! The last games night had a great turnout, lets try to do it again. This "wen4 da2 you2 xi4" will again engage your competitive spirit while improving listening comprehension, vocabulary, and general knowledge. NOTE: This game will be most suitable for levels low-intermediate through advanced, though beginners are always welcome. Key vocabulary will be provided.

THE FORMAT:

We will break into teams of 4-6 depending on how many people show up. There will be 4-5 rounds, each round containing 8 questions of varying difficulty focused on a different topic, such as history, culture, food, etc. To be fair, not all questions will be China-related. Each team will write their answers on their answer sheet and turn it in at the end of each round. All questions will be read in Mandarin, though answers in Pinyin, Hanzi, or English will be accepted. A vocabulary sheet with key words will be provided before the event. Then, for the final round, the three top scoring teams will elect one member to compete in a Jeopardy-style showdown http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeopardy! There will be PRIZES as well.

LOGISTICS: This meetup will start at 7:00 and we will have 20 min or so of mingling and chatting. Instructions and team forming will begin promptly at 7:30. Latecomers can join in progress.

ONE-DRINK MINIMUM: To keep everyone happy to see us, all members should order at least one drink or one food item. And do it right when you get there, since you might forget once the action starts.
