I want to thank everyone who donated to MVFA for the TAFA (Taking Action for Animals) event sponsored by HSUS last weekend. Without these donations, we would not have been able to attend. We had a very successful event in that we recruited new members and raised money through our raffle and book sale (Julie Lewin's book-Taking Action for Animals). We also were able to meet other animal organizations like ours and let them know about our mission.
Our most important task right now is to build our membership. Several of us have been going to tabling events and recruiting new members. Unfortunately, right now it?s only a few people who share this responsibility. Tabling is fun because you can meet a lot of new people and be a part of a fun event. Here are a few events where we need your help:Saturday September 12 D.C.VegFest George Washington University;Washington,DC 12:00- 6:00
Sunday September 27 Pets on Wheels Dog-A-Thon Oregon Ridge Park;Cockeysville,MD 10:00-5:00
Saturday October 10 Baltimore Humane Society DogFest2009 Shawan Downs;Cockeysville,MD 10:00-4:30
Saturday October 17 BARCStoberfest 2009 Patterson Park;Baltimore,MD 11:00-4:00
In addition, if everyone spread the word and told their friends about us, our membership would increase dramatically. There are a lot of animal lovers who want to see animals treated humanely. People feel angry and helpless when they see animals abused. Through being a member of our organization, they can finally be able to do something about it. All we need is their contact information:
3. Phone number (s)
4. email address
(In addition, there are no membership dues)
Please send me this information about people that you know who are interested and make sure I have this information about you as well. If everyone recruited one person today, we would have 85 new members! Then if those new people recruited one person we would have another 85. We could literally grow exponentially. See the power and importance of this? Anyway, who wouldn?t want to be a part of a dynamic, fun, and caring group of people who want to make a difference?
Please read below a message I received from the president of Meetup.com. He went to hear president Obama speak about community solutions. The President said "the best solutions don't come from the top-down... Solutions to America's challenges are being developed every day at the grassroots." This is exactly what we?re doing-building our membership through a grassroots effort. This is an inspiring clip:
Looking forward to getting the names of the new members that you're recruiting!
