Master Thespians Who Write is for accomplished actors, comedians and performers who are now creating their own material and would like inspiration, support and interaction with their peers. This is different from a regular writer's group in that all the writing done here is to be performed by the writer, as we may be dealing with aspects specific to performance - like theatrical venues, solo play construction and performance anxiety.

So if you currently have a solo show or are about to write one - join Master Thespians! Right now, we have two ongoing events -

First Mondays is Monologues & Madness - a show at Cornelia Street Cafe that spotlights actor-writers reading their original work. Attend for inspiration or get on host Tulis McCall's list and try your work out, too!

First Fridays in Master Thespian Round Table - an informal social/brainstorming get together at different downtown cafes where we can get to know each other, hear updates on projects and come up with ideas for future events.

I hope we'll begin to add nights devoted to doing writing exercises together, improvisational writing, structuring our shows and seeing our members' shows or films. Perhaps we may even be able to present our own work to that public at local venues, who knows?

NOTE: I am not a fan of group critique or criticism and have run very humane writer's groups that allow the writer to choose how much, if any, feedback they would like.

Whether it's a social event, brainstorming session or a salon to try out new work - let's form a collective and help each other out, exchange information and just have fun.

(Sorry, this is definitely not for non-actors, beginners or dabblers!)
