3D Printing with Ocean Plastic!

DEMOS: Learn how to make 3DP Filament from waste plastic through a participatory plastic recycling activity.

TALKS: Hear the personal stories from Plastic Bank co-founders Shaun Frankson, David Katz and engineer Hashila Goonetilleke about how Plastic Bank began its journey and its most recent plastic recycling hub in Peru.

BRAINSTORM: Solutions for poverty, What can we print to improve on 3rd world challenges?

The Plastic Bank is a social enterprise turning plastic waste into a currency that can be exchanged to help lift people out of poverty. 


Hashila Goonetilleke is currently completing his bachelor’s degree in mechatronics engineering from the University of Western Sydney. He was the lead researcher in the design and construction of The Plastic Bank Extruder technology which was used to created the world’s first 3D printed item from recycled ocean plastic.
