What is it like to walk a day on the Camino de Santiago as a part of the Meditative Yoga Pilgrimage?

This urban trek takes us through Balboa Park and around Hillcrest and Bankers Hill as a training for our pilgrimage this summer. While trekking on the Camino in Spain, we often pass through towns, villages, and even a few cities.

In addition to the walking, we will start with an introduction to the daily concept and a mini- discussion, then hike for a couple miles and pause for a meditation. Then, we will then hike a couple more miles for a some yoga poses, then a couple more miles to have a group discussion and walk back to close with restorative poses.

Hiking length: Approximately a 5.5-mile loop. Elevation gain/loss, 200 feet.
Difficulty: Easy, mostly flat with elevation changes along upper contours of canyons and steps for Spruce and Quince street bridges. Also, some sidewalks are narrow or buckled in places along the route.

This Meetup is FREE for registered participants of the Spiritual Trekking Adventure and $10 for guests.

• What to bring
Supporting walking shoes, sunglasses or hat, sunscreen, water, snacks...
You have the option to bring a weighted backpack to see what a half day will feel like. It is recommended to carry no more than 10% of your total weight in your pack.

• Important to know
We will start by heading east on Cabrillo Bridge and through Balboa Park. Please be early.
