I started this group in January 2011 because I was looking for ways to stay motivated with my writing projects despite a relatively time-consuming job. One thing that has been proven to help is to be a part of a regular writing group, as it helps motivate people (like me) who need structure and community to "check in" and stay connected to the writing process. So I formed this low-pressure, weekly writing club that will help us all cope with everyday motivation, maintain a commitment to our passion, and meet some other creative-minded and dedicated writers in the process. It has worked great for many of us, and I'm sure there are many writers and want-to-be writers out there who have just resolved to tackle your fiction/poetry/screenplay/cookbook/blog, etc. with more verve this year!

All are welcome. Here's the concept: it's simple. We meet at a pre-determined time and place each week and write for 2 hours. You can stay after to share some conversation about the writing process, or you can simply leave at the end of our time together. Why leave? Maybe you need to be somewhere, you don't feel like discussing your work, or you simply want writing to become a habit, not a social experience.
No genre requirements.
No reading other people's work.
Socializing optional.

I made up these rules because of the basic fact that writing at its best is both social and solitary. Talking with others about my writing can really get my creative juices flowing, but too much socializing can also be a big distraction. Sometimes it's just enough to get out of the house and see that other people work this way, too. This format offers writers a place to work regularly and a chance for some social interaction *after* the writing session is done.

Bill

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
