In Berne, we meet at the short-term parking above the railway station at 9 am. Those going by train should start earlier. From Fribourg railway station, take bus 1 direction Portes-de-Fribourg; get off at the Poya stop and follow Route de Grandfey.

We meet at the Restaurant 4 Vents at 09:30. After coffee, we park at the Grandfey restaurant which is another 200 m and is the starting point of the walk.

We start the walk by crossing the river under the Saane railway bridge. This enormous bridge, 330 m long and 80 m high, was built from 1858 to 1862 in iron and was later rebuilt in concrete. We then follow the track to a farm, turn left towards Räsch and follow the path to the Einsiedelei (Hermitage), which is cut into the sandstone cliffs above the Schiffenensee. It is 120 m long and includes a cave with a water source ( http://www.duedingen-tourismus.ch ).
