Melbourne Geek is on next week!

It's time for Melbourne Geek Night again! Next Monday, 17th September.

We'll be back at Loop Bar on Meyers Place. As usual, talks will start at around 6:30, so make sure you're on time! We have three great speakers this month, so don't miss out.

Hope to see you there!

Three Great Geek Talks!

1. Creating a social music service for fun and profit.

By Josh Sharp - Freelance web developer and creator of Blaster.fm.

Josh is a freelance web developer who spends far too much time working on his own projects. He'll be talking about one of these, Blaster.fm, along with the challenges and rewards of music providers, building APIs, and side projects in general.

2. Social Media Marketing with Bark and Bite.

By Scott Kilmartin - Maker, Merchant, Madman, Media whore, haul.com.au.

Scott is the bloke behind @haul, Melbourne's favourite indie brand of iPad cases, laptop bags, MacBook sleeves, up cycled from old advertising billboards and print blankets. He'll be talking about how Haul has built their brand using social media, animal exploitation whilst not taking it all too seriously.

3. The Business of Religion.

By Steve Sammartino - Director of Planning & Integration at Grey.

A comparative look at religion and social media with a focus on the two giants in each camp - Catholicism and Facebook. The strategies they both employ have frightening similarity and maybe we should be just as concerned with the ultimate power they could wield if left unchecked.

Come and get your Geek on!
