MelbJVM meetup #3

The third JVM meetup will take place again, Wednesday May 2nd at Peoplebank's offices.

We've got a couple of practical talks:

  • Berry, with an interactive intro to the Play web framework
  • Steve Mactaggart (@stevemac) a demo on deploying your web projects to the cloud, covering whipping up a web app with maven, and deploying to CloudBees and Jelastic.

If you've ever wanted to sidestep a sysadmin or get kudos for quickly building and deploying a webapp to suit an employer need then you've got two very good reasons to attend

Special thanks to Peoplebank for providing the venue, as well as drinks and nibbles for this meetup this time around.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Great to see so many people in attendance! I enjoyed learning more about Java development in the cloud, and finding out more about how much cloud hosting, building and testing you can get away with for free.

Very happy with the turnout, a lot of new faces. Apart from being a very inquisitive community who ask good questions, you also are very conscientious with RSVPs. The number who turned up matched the number of yes RSVPs, and this is greatly appreciated from an organising perspective.
Also happy with the quality of the speakers, who were able to adapt on the fly to changing technical conditions and time constraints. The post meetup discussion started on cloud and again covered a varying range of tech topics. Worth coming to the meetups for that aspect alone.
