June 17 phpMelb: Automating AWS with CloudFormation; GoLang

Automating AWS with CloudFormation by Wee Keat (Wicked)

This talk will attempt to introduce the mechanics of a basic, but very useful automated deployment pipeline, which enables highly repeatable build of server/application nodes from scratch. This presentation will cover the use of CloudFormation with EC2 instances as a focus, followed by a quick overview of how everything is glued together.

Break, Food, Chat

There won't be any lightning talks any more. Instead, we'll have a break to eat and chat while the next presenter sets up.

Go(lang) for PHP developers by Andrew Edwards

Go is a newish programming language from Google that is super handy to know. It can be a good substitute for PHP in certain situations. I'll take you through the basics of Go from the perspective of a PHP developer.

@Andrew Edwards, which editor were you using during your talk? I am using IntelliJ IDEA but it does not seem to auto-format by GoLang code.

Yes, it was sublime3 with GoSublime. I also use vim with the go-vim plugin too :)

Me too, Ali. I'd love to learn vi too! I think Colby is much better than I am! Nevertheless, I don't mind sharing what I know.
