Not the End of Alternative Crafters

Hi all
Well I don't know about you but I hate to see something awesome die. I've had a look around at some of the other crafty meet ups in Melbourne, and frankly the ones I came across are too pink for me. For me craft has never been about being feminine or mainstream, and I'm going to guess that there are plenty of other makers out there who feel the same. So this is the group for us.
And I know, I know it's been a bumpy ride. I'm the third organiser in as many months so you're probably starting to wonder whether any meet ups are going to happen. But I reckon there's still life in the ol' rocker yet, so I'm going to take on the organising side of things.
Just to quickly introduce myself, my name is Laura but some of my friends call me Lisa Simpson. This must be because I'm a poetry-writing non-smoking vegetarian nerd who plays the blues (harmonica) and has a tendency to rant about lefty things.
I've been making craft for as long as I can remember, moving between any and all crafts that grab my interest... this includes chain maille, zines, steampunk, theatre costumes, jewellery, subverting boardgames, knitting beards. Most recently my obsession with beards landed me in an art exhibition about beards.
Jason has been most helpful in asking questions about what people would like to do so I'll check out all your answers and get back to you real soon. If you have any more suggestions please let me know.
That's about it. I can't wait to meet you all and see what you make!
Laura
