Meet other local Humanists, people who believe in the basic goodness of the human spirit without supernaturalism.
The Humanist Society of Victoria (HSV) states that it "works to build a more civilised society fostering ethics based on human values. It considers that reason, free inquiry and a scientific approach enable us to understand our universe and our place in it. It defends freedom and democracy and provides a positive alternative to religious and dogmatic creeds. It supports separation of church and state, and secular education." We are not officially endorsed by the HSV, however, if you feel you can't uphold the above values, then this meetup is not for you.
Many humanists are also atheists but you don't have to consider yourself an atheist to be a humanist. If you feel you cannot consort with atheists, this meetup is not for you.
All members of the group must show tolerance for one another.
The aim of this meetup group is to bring humanists together, interacting with each other, whether it be to debate or discuss hot topics, celebrate an occasion, or just have a chin-wag over your favourite beverage.
How about a last catch up for the year. Its on a Thursday night because most people are going to be busy on weekends leading up to Christmas.
Gold coin donation to keep the meetup paid for would be much appreciated.
