Meteor Devshop 8

Friends, Makers, Meteorites!

Come co-work with other Meteorites during the day at Meteor Devshop, or socialize with Meteorites and give/see Lightning Talks in the evening. Or both. Either way, we'd love to see you!

Note: this event is for people attending Devshop in real life. If you can't make it to SF, join the livestream on the Meteor YouTube channel.

Meteor Devshop 8: Day

What: Open co-working
When: 2PM - 6PM
Where: Meteor HQ,[masked]th St., San Francisco, CA

*Doors open at 2PM.*

We're focusing this devshop on fixing bugs (and also helping people build apps and packages).  Some knowledgable Meteorites will be here to help, and there is an opportunity to show off what you built later in the evening with a Lightning Talk. (Drop Jade a line or comment here if you're interested in taking a shift to answer questions for fellow Meteorites.)

Flu season is upon us, so like last year, we'll be offering free influenza vaccinations at Devshop.  Please answer the RSVP question if you'd like a free flu shot.

There will be plenty of snacks, caffeine, and fellow Meteorites, so please bring your laptops and ideas.

Meteor Devshop 8: Night

What: Dinner, Lightning Talks, and Happy Hour
When: 6PM - 10PM
Where: Meteor HQ,[masked]th St., San Francisco, CA

Come share food, drinks, and talks with fellow Meteorites. Demo an app, share something useful for fellow Meteorites, or talk about something interesting you've learned with a Lightning Talk. If you would like to give a Lightning Talk, please sign up before Sept. 15, so we have time to make graphics for your name and your talk.

Add your Lightning Talk Here.

For inspiration, see Lightning Talks from previous devshops.

Transit Information

There is ample street parking at this end of SOMA, but we're also pretty close to Civic Center BART station, and the Bus lines 47 and 83X take you straight here from the Caltrain stop at 4th and King.  There is also a parking garage on Mission between 7th and 8th that operates until midnight.

Is there a link to the video ? is that still available ? I was talking to a client about a couple of the projects and they were interested.

The unmodified YouTube livestream is still viewable, at the moment - http://www.youtube.co... I'm hoping to have the individual talks posted soon as well.

Why the hour there in San Francisco is 1:27 pm and in the live streaming still missing 5 hours?
It starts at 2 pm in San Francisco...:S, I'm confused.

@Julian: Open co-working starts at 2pm PST, but talks don't start until 7pm PST. Only the talks are live-streamed.

Just wondering, is the flu shots this meetup only? I wouldn't mind postponing mine until next time.

    September 25, 2013

    • Jade W.

@Ed, yes, the flu shots are this time only. There is a minimum order for Walgreens for it to be worth it to send employees out.

No problem, I'll take it today.

I've never used Meteor before. Is this event 'ok' for beginners?
    Thanks! :D

We welcome developers across a diverse range of experience at Devshop. But it's intentionally easy to get started. @Jesse, have you tried the examples? http://www.meteor.com...

the cool part is: each devshop starts with collaboration session where anybody can work in the event space, talk to other developers and ask questions and expect somebody to help you. So even if you are not super familiar with Meteor you get a chance to know it :)
