Discover Meteor Workshop

*Doors open at 1:30PM*

Come join us at Meteor HQ for the first ever Discover Meteor Workshop!

If you've been hearing about Meteor but haven't had a chance to give it a try yet, then this workshop is for you.

In one afternoon, we'll cover the basic building blocks of Meteor as you learn how to build a simple app from scratch.

You'll follow along the first six chapters of Discover Meteor with co-author Sacha Greif, and learn how to install Meteor, create an app, manage your data, create user accounts, and more.

No previous Meteor experience required.

• Basic HTML/CSS/JS familiarity recommended, but not required.

Free workshop.

Free access to the basic edition of the book.

• Please bring your own laptop.

----

Note: This meetup event is for people attending in-person at Meteor HQ in SF. If you are participating elsewhere in the global Discover Meteor Day, please leave your RSVP as "no" to free up spots for others. :-) We're expecting this event to be full!

Hi everyone - decided to make this a little closer to Devshop-scale, so we raised the RSVP cap from 40 to 95. Quick reminder that this meetup page is for attending in-person, and we expect it be full. If you are participating from afar, or find yourself unable to attend, please RSVP "no" to free up a spot for someone on the waiting list. :-)

Hey everyone - Sacha and Tom are generously allowing anyone to have free 1-day access to the book this Saturday, Dec 14. So even if you can't make this workshop, you'll be able to take part in what we're now calling #DiscoverMeteorDay. Read more on the Meteor blog (http://www.meteor.com/blog/2013/12/09/read-discover-meteor-for-free-on-discovermeteorday-this-saturday) or DiscoverMeteor blog (https://www.discovermeteor.com/2013/12/09/discover-meteor-day/).

I've been exploring Meteor and loving it. Discover Meteor is definitely by far the best way to get started on and learn Meteor.
    Looking forward to this workshop.

Will this event be capped at 40?

    December 5, 2013

  • Drew

Yes, as I know several dozen people who would enthusiastically attend this if there were space, I think it is essential that it be recorded. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help with this. I would be happy to organise and execute a recording/uploading with the organisers of the event if plans have not been made to do so.

I've gone through the first half or so of this book. It's an excellent value! (Also, can we agree this wedding photo of me is hilarious?)

This is wonderful to have Sacha Greif here for this special Discover Meteor Workshop and I can say from firsthand experience with the book since it was released this past May it will be great for all in attendance.

Along these lines, please let us know if this workshop will be streamed live like the last few Meteor Devshops or at least videotaped and uploaded to the Meteor YouTube channel as it will definitely be an asset to all of us Meteorites to view again and again.
