Demo and Open House: Big Data Processing with Apache Spark

Details

Visit us at Metis (http://www.thisismetis.com/) in San Francisco to meet Shirish Tatikonda, Principal Data Engineer at Target Corp. and creator and instructor of the Metis evening course Big Data Processing with Apache Spark (http://www.thisismetis.com/big-data-processing).

During his demo, Shirish will go over how to use Spark for building real-world applications involving data munging, data transformations (or ETL), and predictive modeling. He will demonstrate building continuous applications by processing data from Twitter feeds.

Afterwards, he'll discuss the structure and outcomes of his upcoming Big Data course, which is designed for all data enthusiasts who want to derive value from their data sets. It's an ideal course for aspiring data engineers and data scientists, as well as for:

• Data engineers who wish to broaden their knowledge of modern distributed computing platforms.

• Data analysts and scientists who are interested in learning techniques to scale their mathematical models to large data sets.

• Individuals with some computing background and are generally curious about the new exciting field of big data.

The course starts Tuesday, October 25th and will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 9:30pm through December 6th.

Food and drinks will be served.

6:30 - 7:00 Register, Mingle, Eat & Drink
7:00 - 7:30 Instructor Shirish Tatikonda presents
7:30 - 8:00 Chat with Shirish, attendees, Metis staff and enjoy more food & drink
