Hello Kirtan community- you will find this a kindred group, and there are always a few familiar kirtans at each event.

Musicians are also welcome.

Arlington, VA Dance Circle: Come Cultivate Inner and Outer Peace!

  • Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington
4444 Arlington Blvd., Arlington, VA (map)
Enter the lower level, or take the stairs to lower level, chapel is to the right.
  • Welcome, Beloved Dancers!
We'll dance (participatory, not "performance" oriented, so there is no audience) for two hours, then have a fabulous, nourishing potluck dinner gathering afterwards! The potluck gives us a great opportunity to get to know each other even better. We look forward to welcoming many of you for the first time, and we have many wonderful souls who have already joined our community.  Here's where you may find some beautiful, inspiring videos, to understand the Dances of Universal Peace more fully:
We will dance at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington, Virginia
4444 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, VA (corner George Mason Drive)
in the very special Chapel on the Lower Level
Nourishing Potluck following in an adjacent room (fridge, microwave available)
Wear whatever you're comfortable wearing. The dance space is carpeted. Some go barefoot (or socked), some wear comfie shoes. Women (and men, too) sometimes wear something 'flowy' because we're dancing and spinning (as slow as you like - don't worry). And some might tend to wear something a little special because it's a sacred occasion.
We have a basket for a love offering.  $10 suggested, and our wish is for no one to be excluded because they cannot contribute.  Everyone is welcome!
Rumi says, "Come, come, whoever you are . . . wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving. Ours is no caravan of despair." And bring a friend if you like! (I added that last part. : )
We teach each sacred chant/song, then introduce simple movements. It's made to be effortless, because the focus is on our hearts, the center of the sound, feeling connected to all that is. You can relax and trust and flow, and have a great time your very first time -- promise!
