Brunch at Lockhart's BBQ - Royal Oak
Details
http://photos2.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/4/5/4/e/event_94037742.jpegDetroit News columnist Molly Abraham recently wrote an article describing in detail the Brunch featured at Lockhart’s BBQ in Royal Oak:
“This is a gutsy menu with bold flavors, and it takes advantage of the Southwest spin of the kitchen, with such dishes as pork carnitas tucked into fresh tortillas topped with enchilada sauce; smoked ham and scrambled eggs with fluffy house-made biscuits; and breaded sirloin steak fried country style and finished with sausage gravy, and it's a breath of fresh air. While there is something called eggs Benedict on the menu, it's a twist on the original with fried tomatoes, smoked ham and tomato salsa along with the classic Hollandaise on poached eggs.
Another twist on a classic is chicken and waffles, featuring buttermilk waffles along with country-fried smoked chicken wings. The brunch list includes 14 entrees in all, some served with a side of fresh fruit, an appealing mix of raspberries, blackberries, melon, pineapple and grapes. Other garnishes include jalapeno brown beans and country potatoes.
Naturally, it wouldn't be brunch without mimosas, screwdrivers and Bloody Marys, and they have a gentle price tag, just $2.50 during the relatively short brunch hours of 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Pints of Michigan craft beer are $3 at brunch time.
Everything is served on sturdy white plates and bowls and brought by a cheerful staff to the uncovered wood tables, set with four house-made barbecue sauces and a signature jar of pickles, in the big, high-ceilinged room that has the festive air of a good party.”
