Scala in practice, akka-streams and Apache Spark Streaming API

This time, we are going to explore some of the main concepts behind the Akka project, specially the ones related with reactive streams. We will also take a look at Apache Spark Streaming for consuming high volume, real time generated data. Streams are important in our time since life doesn't happen in batches any more.

GUEST SPEAKER: Nicolas A Perez

Nicolas is a software engineer at IPC, an independent SUBWAY® franchisee-owned and operated purchasing cooperative, where he works on their Big Data Platform. Very interested in Apache Spark, Hadoop, distributed systems, algorithms, and functional programming, especially in the Scala programming language.

In the past, he has done work in C# on the .NET Framework, which includes payment processing systems, POS systems, and mobile systems.
