LET'S GO TO THE BEACH!
We're going back to Hammonasset Beach again to spend a day playing on the beach, photographing the movements of the capricious wind through all kinds of props. Kites, giant bubbles, beautiful fabrics, pinwheels, and other props will be our creative muses. PLUS we'll have models joining us. If you know some models who would like to be photographed (in exchange for portfolio pics) please contact me. We will invite models from last year and some new faces, too.
Meigs Point, with its jetty, outcrop of rocks and cliff, awesome giant piece of driftwood, and beach house, will practically be our own private playground since the park is not officially open until Memorial Day weekend. You can bring a picnic or have a barbecue on their grills.
The park supervisor has given us permission to remain past closing to photograph through the sunset on the beach. We will all put a "MID-CT Photo Group" sign on our dashboard so security won't make us leave. (You print the sign before you go.)
WARNING: This meetup may unleash your inner child.
With a little imagination, we can create all kinds of "sets" on the beach and cool photo ops... just like they do for magazine ads!
Don't miss it! This was a very popular event last year and everyone had a really super time.
We'll have a lively discussion in the comments to brainstorm all the fun things we can do, props we can bring, etc. Lists of ideas to get you thinking will be posted on the MESSAGE BOARD.
Start thinking of ideas and looking for props! Consider objects that blow in the wind (besides Bob Dylan's answers) as well as some interesting pieces of furniture for offbeat "sets" for the models (floor lamps, chairs, etc.) that would look so funky and very cool on the beach.
STAY TUNED! THE LOGISTICS FOR THE DAY WILL BE FORTHCOMING!
