This is the second meet up that I missed because I couldn't find the location. I found Lake Compounce. But not the main entrance I found the service entrance. I asked the guard for directions and they didn't give any good ones.

Sorry you had trouble. I know a few people ended up at the employee entrance but were able to make it over to the main entrance.

Great Christmas atmosphere and a wonderful place for me to learn how to shoot at night!

I had a wonderful time, wandering the park. Also meeting fellow team mates after a long time was great!

It was fun trying to capture some interesting images with the "unnatural" light

Forecasts I've seen indicate that the showers will move out quickly in the AM and that the PM should be fine, with clear skies around 4-6pm. Temps sound warmish as well.

We'll meet by the main entrance.

This is my first meet-up. Where in the park are we meeting?

    December 6, 2012

  • Warren

I would say the plan is to meet at 5:30, that would be an hour earlier than the previous time.

    December 6, 2012

Sue, the plan is still to meet at 6:30 correct?

Charles, if you go to my gallery at: www.pbase.com/baywing and look at the Hubbard Park Lights gallery you will be able to see all the lens and exposure data for each shot. I'd suggest using that as a starting point and you'll likely have to adjust a little from there.

Question I never shot lights before and never at night. What lens should one bring? Also WHAT APERTURE?

    November 27, 2012

  • Warren

I made a call to the park and asked about photography. The woman I spoke with said that photos are no problem, you just can't take pics of Santa (or anywhere they charge for formal pics). Tripods are ok, but not on the rides and in general, common sense should prevail.

I'm going for the lights too. It should be a great opportunity for night photo shots with all of the decorative lighting effects. Not sure yet about taking on a ride for photo ops.

  • Sue O

I am also going for the lights. As far as i know this is the first year they have done them so i'm not sure what to expect.

    November 26, 2012

  • Warren

I don't think they will have many rides open, according to their website it says "select children's and adult rides will be open weather permitting."
For my own self, I'm going for the lights and photo ops. If a ride looks like I can get some shots without damaging the equipment, I may.

  • carol

Are people going to go on rides with their cameras?

    November 26, 2012

  • Warren

According totheir website, it appears you can either buy tickets on-line or at the door. Adults are $14.99 plus tax and parking (they don't say how much, season parking pass is $33 so I'll guess a one-shot deal is $5)

Sue, I assume we can purchase admission that evening?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
