TOPIC 1 - " What is the WBN, and how can we co-create a vibrant wholistic business community?" - with Frances Amaroux

Frances Amaroux (www.LoveCoaching.com), the co-founder (with Vanessa Lewis) of the mid north coast chapter, will be facilitating the evening, and giving an overview of the potential future of the WBN in our area. As a Relationship counsellor and coach for over 22 years, and passionate Community Building Consultant and Facilitator, Frances is fascinated with relationships in all their shapes and sizes, and is especially interested in how communities evolve, work and prosper. TOPIC 2: Affordable Social and Community Housing - what works and what doesn't - with Dr Alec McHarg In a period when governments have increasingly demonstrated their lack of commitment in restructuring the Australian socio-economic and creative landscape past the “we will consult” stage, Alec McHarg has established an Urban Policy Group where the objective is to influence government urban policy that reflects the needs of creative individuals and communities in urban and non-urban communities. Dr Alec McHarg has visited and explored the possibilities of the ‘revitalisation’ of urban space in cities as diverse as Barcelona, Berlin, Paris, Athens and London. He proposes sustainable economic, social and creative lifestyles, and work and transport strategies for citizens who live and work in built environments where a unique ‘sense of place’ and walkable precincts stimulates spontaneous social connections between inhabitants.
About Alec McHarg
Alec McHarg trained as an engineer and graduated in Agricultural Systems, he holds a Master of Applied science in social ecology and completed his PhD entitled “Social Connectedness and the Built Environment” in December 2012. His research was centred in London and Berlin and European cities generally, involving social integration; social housing; ecological building principles, housing construction and regeneration policies; energy and waste management strategies.

As a technical director he has operated as a negotiator in the Middle East and Eastern Europe; He has worked as project manager in diverse environments such as a NT cattle station; for the Fiji Sugar Corporation in Fiji, as a consultant for City Rail and on affordable housing strategies and sustainable boutique resorts. http://www.urbansustainability.com.au
