Hello, fellow Meetup members.  I thought I'd pass along this email from Ragani (her kirtan events are posted on our Meetup site).  She and several other musicians are doing a benefit concert at Shank Hall this coming Saturday to help with the burial and funeral costs for families who lost their loved ones in the Sikh temple tragedy yesterday morning.

Violent Femmes’ Brian Ritchie, Shank Hall, others team up for Sikh temple benefit concert

In the wake of Sunday’s horrific mass shooting at an Oak Creek Sikh temple, former Violent Femmes bassist Brian Ritchie is teaming up with Shank Hall and Hindu-based musicians Kirtan with Ragani for a benefit concert Sunday, August 12. A complete press release from Shank Hall is below:

“Shank Hall, Brian Ritchie and Ragani have joined together to create an impromptu benefit concert and tribute to the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, which was the site of a tragic and senseless act of violence. The Hindu based music of Kirtan with Ragani and Zen derived jazz of Brian Ritchie Shakuhachi Club MKE will calm and uplift concertgoers. Musicians include Ragani, Brian, John Sparrow, Dave Gelting, Silas Ritchie, Michael Kashou and more. Doors open at 6:30 and music starts at 7:00. Shank Hall 1434 North Farwell Avenue Milwaukee, WI 53202 (414) 276-7288. $10 minimum donation suggested All donations will go to the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin.”

All love,
