December Drum Circles / Events

Hello, Everyone. Below is a copy of my monthly email that I send out to those
on my drum email lists:

*****************************

Greetings, Drummers!

Few things to pass on to you for the month of December!
First, as always, below is the December drum circle schedule for Good Harvest
Market in Pewaukee:

Women's Circle: Wednesday, December 2nd from 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Open Circle: Thursday, December 10th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Good Harvest Market is located at 1850 Meadow Lane in Pewaukee and the
drum circles are held in the Community Room. Come join us (and keep in mind
that these circles are free)! Last month at our open circle we had djembes, a
frame drum, bongos, dunduns, a bougarabou, a set of congas, and a variety of
hand percussion instruments which made for a most interesting and fun circle!!

********************************************************************
Second, there is going to be a free Winter Solstice Drum Circle on Sunday,
December 20th at Mary's Margin retreat center in Mukwonago and it will run
from 7:30 - 9:00 PM. Mary's Margin is located at S83W27815 Beaver Trail,
Mukwonago, WI 53149. Here is a message from the Sisters at Mary's Margin:

"Come help us celebrate the Solstice. We will make music -- or at least a cheerful
noise -- and finish with a candle dance. Bring your own instrument/drum if you
have one. We have plenty to share, however."

** Please note that once you get onto Beaver Trail, you need to go to the very
end of it (dead end) to get to the retreat center!

*****************************************************************
Third, don't forget about the December 11-13 workshops in Oak Park, Illinois
with Master drummer Mamady Keita! Go to www.holygoat.com for details.
Registrations are still being accepted!

******************************************************************
And lastly, if you haven't already done so, check out our Milwaukee area drum
circle Meetup site (the address is: www.meetup.com/Milwaukee-Drum). We have
a lot of great events listed on the calendar, and we currently have 164 drummers
signed on as members!! It's a great resource for drumming events going on in the
Milwaukee area.

********************************************************************
Sound is power and the first sound we hear is the pulse of our mother's
blood. No sound has a more powerful effect on our consciousness. Drumming is
the musical expression of this primal power. Rhythm is a means of organizing sound
into specific energy formulas to harmonize the mind and body. Chanting, rhythmic
breathing, and drumming form an ancient technology for directly synchronizing the
mind/body complex, creating conditions for psychological and physical healing.

- Layne Redmond

**********************************************************************
Peace, Light, and Drums biggrin,
(And I hope you have a most wonderful Holiday Season!!),

Kristie
