To Medicate or Not To Medicate? Part 1

Is that your question?  For some of us, particularly those that have recently been diagnosed with AD/HD, this question can take on a life of its own.  Why would anyone want to medicate? What’s the medication like?  What can it do and not do?  What are the side effects?  How do you know it’s working?  If I start, when can I stop?  What’s right for me?  Join us for Part 1 of a 2 Part, open discussion, where we’ll share experiences, idea’s and general information about AD/HD; to medicate or not to medicate?

It was great to see each of you yesterday! We welcomed new members Jessica and Neil, and shared experiences relating to ADD medications. Several observed that, within a small group, we heard a range of experiences and results were expressed! One member raised the important question, "How do I know it's working?" When starting a medication, it's common to begin at a low dose and build up as needed until the optimal balance of support is achieved. And the question got me to thinking about how important it is to set clear intentions and goals by which to measure the effectiveness and changing dynamics of the ADD medication experience!

Next month, 4/12, our discussion continues with an emphasis on exploring intentions, goals and ways to measure the effectiveness of med's. Thanks to each of you for sharing in our collective learning around this topic! Please post comments, questions or email me.

On 3/26 at 2 PM, we'll be exploring other supportive practices and alternatives!
