Ascot Hills Panorama

Details
Don't be put off by the unfamiliar neighborhood - this is a gem. One of LA's newest parks, Ascot Hills is a large wide-open mount nestling a valley and containing 4 or 5 miles of trails with 360 degree views of downtown and the eastside. I'll bet it's a new place for almost everyone. We'll go a little before sunset in the golden hour, starting with a 350' climb. Total distance will be about 3 miles, with a lot of ups and downs on moderately rough but wide trail. Flashlights are always a good idea.
We'll meet at the trailhead at the eastern edge of the park, in the parking lot on Ruth Swiggett Drive opposite the Farmdale Elementary School, just off of Eastern Avenue. The adjacent El Sereno Rec Center is open until 9 and has restrooms. Park restrooms may or may not be open at the halfway point near the Ascot Hills entrance. Hope to see you there for this pioneering walk!
