Our inaugural event will feature a high powered panel to discuss industry trends, challenges, and opportunities. Our panelists, listed below, will be lead by Wade Roush, Chief Correspondent of Xconomy – San Francisco.
• Jorge Fernandes, CEO of MOBIbucks
Before co-founding MOBIbucks, Mr. Fernandes was co-founder, CEO and Chairman of ViVOtech, having conceived and demonstrated the initial products for PayPass and NFC. Previously, Fernandes was president and founder of EmployeeLife (NASDAQ-ICGE), BioLumin (NASDAQ-MDYN), and LaserTron (NASDAQ-LZTN). He has authored over a dozen patents in the areas of payment technology, software algorithms, robotics, digital feedback, and laser systems. Mr. Fernandes received his BSEE from San Diego State University and MBA from Santa Clara University
• Ankit Agarwal, CEO of Micello
Founded in 2007, Micello is building the worlds largest collection of indoor maps. He is responsible for setting the overall direction and product strategy for the company. Micello's customers include mobile carriers, mapping and navigation companies, retailers, hospital groups and application developers. The company is headquartered in Sunnyvale (USA) and has offices in Tokyo (Japan), Ahmadabad (India) and Chennai (India). Ankit attended the University of California, Davis and studied chemical engineering.
• Raj Lalwani, CEO of TinyView
Raj Lalwani is an entrepreneur at heart focusing on consumer-facing, social and mobile startups. He is currently a founder and the CEO of Tinyview - a mobile browser specially designed for shopping. His previous startup, Social Calendar, was a Facebook app with 15 million users. At its peak, Social Calendar was ranked #19 among all Facebook apps. Social Calendar was acquired by Walmart to become part of @WalmartLabs in March 2012.
Raj has an MS CS from IIT, Delhi and Penn State and a certificate in databases from Stanford University. He is an author of three patents and a book.
• Chris Gottschalk, Vice President at Blumberg Capital
Chris has over 8 years of experience as an investor, entrepreneur, operational executive and investment banker within the technology space. Prior to Blumberg, Chris worked at Menlo Ventures where he pursued investment opportunities in mobile, internet, gaming, software, and e-commerce. Before joining Menlo Ventures, Chris served as the Director of Corporate Development & Analytics at PlayPhone. In this role he was responsible for M&A sourcing and execution, strategic partnerships, and improving operational metrics
Chris earned a B.A. with a double major in Economics and Political Science from the University of California, Davis and an MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona. Chris was selected as a Kauffman Finalist in 2012.
Moderator: Wade Roush - Chief Correspondent of Xconomy, San Francisco
Wade is a veteran journalist with a focus on information technology. As a staffer with MIT’s Technology Review from 2001 to 2006, he served as senior editor, San Francisco bureau chief, and executive editor of TechnologyReview.com. Before joining TR, Wade was the Boston bureau reporter for Science, managing editor of supercomputing publications at NASA Ames Research Center, and Web editor at e-book pioneer NuvoMedia. He has a B.A. in the history of science from Harvard University and a PhD in the history and social study of science and technology from MIT. His work has appeared in Science, Technology Review, IEEE Spectrum, and Encyclopaedia Brittanica, and he has been a guest commentator on CNN, CNBC, NECN, WGBH, NPR, and PBS.
