HTML5 Mobile Apps with Appery.io

  • August 27, 2013 · 6:00 PM

Build a Complete App with the Appery.io Cloud Platform: HTML5 App + Mobile Backend + APIs

Learn how to build a complete mobile app with the Appery.io cloud platform. We will build the mobile app UI with HTML5/jQuery Mobile using visual drag and drop builder. Connect to integrated mobile backend services, and to 3rd party APIs. Use Apache Cordova (PhoneGap) for native device features, build/deploy the app. This is a live coding session where attendees will be able to test the app as its being built.

Parking

There is a 7:10 Mariners game on 8/27.  That means that parking will be a pain in the neck. The BEST option would be to take the bus or light rail to Cobalt.  They are located at a transit hub in the International District (one of Amazon’s old buildings, next door to Paul Allen’s building, in the Union Station complex of buildings across from Uwajimaya if that helps).

• The bus stop is 5th and Jackson

The light rail stop is International District/Chinatown.

If you are standing in the courtyard by the fountain, they are in the 605 building across from Starbucks.

Seattle developers! I'm a founder looking for a couple entrepreneurial iOS developers to join an extremely promising mobile startup (we're on the verge of some major funding). App belongs to the "sharing" space. We're a 5-person company, so this is high-risk, high-reward stuff. If interested, feel free to message me.

Thanks, Max, for the quick tutorial. Looking forward to using appery at work. Meetup suggestions: remove the 30 min waiting time before start and consider gluten allergies when picking food. Really appreciated that Max gave a concise, efficient presentation while taking us through the process from creation to completion. Thanks, guys!

Hey Nicki: the 30 minutes is designed to give stragglers time to find the venue. It's also (in theory) an opportunity to chat with other attendees. We can probably do a better job of facilitating that aspect of the event, for sure.

Any chance of a meetup for appery in dallas?! haha. Don't ask me how I found this...

    August 28, 2013

    • Max

How did you find out :)? Sure.. is there a mobile meetup in the area?

      August 29, 2013

Thank you Cobalt for your organization. Appery definitely is a great tool, especially the integrated function with Exadel RESTXpress.

It was super informative and the presenter was highly skilled too. Loved it

The meetup was very intriguing. The only disappointment was that the presenter went a little too fast. It is obvious that he is very excited about the technology.

very cool demo - nothing to show you the awesomeness of a new tech/tool like a good ol' fashion demo

Are there any tools we'll need to have loaded/configured before the session, like PhoneGap, Android build environment, etc.?

    August 2, 2013

    • Max

Just your laptop. Appery.io is running in the cloud so there is nothing to download/install. Super easy! If you would like to follow me and build the app, you can also sign up for Appery.io Starter plan. I will post a special promo code next week so you can get the Standard plan.

I have the promo code for you guys tomorrow. Looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow!

Hey all, I'm Brett and will be the hosting site rep. The location is VERY convenient to any bus traffic in the tunnel. Travel times vary, but I know that the Northgate TC is about 15-20 minutes away on the 41. Head between the Starbucks and the Tullys with the Daleks* on your left, alongside the long planter. The building number can be a bit disguised, but if you see the much-more-obvious 625 building plate we're directly opposite it. The meeting is on the 9th floor - the elevators are set to permit traffic there without the customary badges. There should be signs directing you to the conference room (910).

Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight! *Re: Daleks: If you're not familiar with them, you'll recognize them when you see them.

Thanks for your guide, but it's for tomorrow, Aug 27, not tonight.

    • Brett R.

D'oh! I knew that, I'm not sure where "tonight" came from. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 27th!

I've been on the fence for a while if I could really come, so it might make more sense for me to change my RSVP to a "No". Looks like there are still open slots, so if at the last minute I decide I can come, I will (and abstain from pizza, if necessary).

    August 26, 2013

  • Nicki R.

    I'll be there.

anyone going from Bothell side, we can do carpool

    August 26, 2013

  • Jim

Will be there and will come by bus which is easy since Cobalt sits on top of the Bus Tunnel's International District Station. Anyone coming from the Eastside just needs to drive to the Mercer Island Park n Ride and hop on the 550 which takes you directly to the meeting location. The 550 will take you back to the Park n Ride as well.

    August 26, 2013

    • Jim

Between 5-7pm the 550 runs every 10-15 minutes. Takes 10 minutes between stops so the trip is very fast.

      August 26, 2013

    • Jim

You can also take the 216.

      August 26, 2013

  • Greg B.

Don't feel like fighting the M's traffic.

    August 26, 2013

  • Ragan

Looking forward to seeing this in action.

    August 2, 2013
