This should be pretty fun, I'm excited to hear about the conference and what others are doing with CodeIgniter.

Ok, that's what I'll put together then.

We did a pretty good overview and "installation" about a year ago. I'd like to see some of the steps you'd go through when programming a small app? Maybe just working with CodeIgniter or tricks of the trade you've picked up?

    August 30, 2011

  • Dan B.

Are folks looking for an overview of CodeIgniter, or do you want some more detailed/new things?

    August 30, 2011

  • Dan B.

I'm happy to put together a presentation if someone has a topic they'd like to hear about regarding CodeIgniter/PHP.

Nick, why don't you set up a room?

    August 28, 2011

  • nick

after 5 parking is free, and we can probably get hooked up with the guest wireless.

    August 26, 2011

  • Harold

Sounds great as long as we don't have to pay for parking.

How do folks feel about having it at the University?

    August 24, 2011

Is this going to be in Missoula? Do we need a location?

    August 22, 2011

We have some CI swag to give away when we get back!

That's awesome Dan, I'm envious of Nick and you going to the conference!

Sounds great - look forward to it.

I've moved it to September. That way Nick and I can share our knowledge nuggets that we get from the CodeIgniter Conference in NYC a few weeks before.

  • Dan Bowling removed the location. It was Zootown Brew

Please pick a new time soon - as it's eclipsing the PHP Dojo. Hadn't realized we had a conflict here... sorry about that.

    June 20, 2011

  • Dan B.

Yes, I'll pick a new date/time/location for it.

    June 20, 2011

  • Ashton S.

Are we going to change this date/time?

    June 20, 2011

  • Wes

The PHP coding Dojo might be another good forum next week, you might just want to go to that and see what they're working on.

For this month I'm doing a Missoula meetup on the 30th so I probably won't be able to make it back to Missoula until July. There's a couple of options, the meeting on the 30th is a free-form discussion so we could some CI stuff then. The other option is to make the main July meetup a CI + Ajax topic. What might even be better is a Framework + Ajax talk where everyone brings samples of how they do Ajax in their favorite tool.

    June 17, 2011

  • Dan B.

Hmm, I didn't realize there was this time problem (both with changed date of the coding dojo, as well as zoo town brew.) I'm going to suggest a new date/place for this meeting if people are down with that. Wes, what would work for you?

    June 14, 2011

Also, this is the same day as the PHP Coding Dojo. I'd love to learn more about CodeIgniter at some point, I've only used it for one small project a few years ago but it caught me interest. I currently use CakePHP but would be interested in comparing it with CI

    June 14, 2011

  • Ashton S.

Awesome! I'd love to come to this. I've made a few small things with CI, and would love to do more.

Can we move it a little bit earlier (~5:00?), so I don't have to miss the PHP Dojo starting at around 6:30?

Hey Wes, this just popped up in my alerts...wanted to let you know that Zootown Brew Closes at 6pm during the simmer months unless they are staying open just for this? I noticed the time on the post shows 6pm.

Hey Dan, I just "announced" it so you should get some feedback. I would love to come over from Bozeman, but I'm leading the Creating Apps one later in the week.

One cool thing with CI and jQuery is that you can call a controller->action with jQuery and load the view html into any element. For simple Ajax calls where you don't care about HTML in the response it's great. For JSON/XML you may want to go the REST route, or try to extend the view method in the CI_Controller (viewJSON, etc).

Is anyone else planning on coming to this? If we wanted to identify some specific interests that may be good. I'm particularly interested to see how people deal with AJAX requests since I've not seen any firm best practices. I'm hovering about using a REST controller and doing AJAX detection in the view.

Let's make this happen. I just suggested a date/place. We need some more RSVP's!

I am interested in getting into PHP. This would be helpful.

    October 7, 2010

CI is great, we can always focus on the Active Record aspects of it.

    October 7, 2010

  • Nora M.

I totally agree Ian! There are so many Meetups I have to miss because of my crazy schedule, that running it again means I might actually get to participate in the discussion. Thanks for all your work organizing these!

  • Ian M.

DOOOD! Great Idea! I think we already did it though.. LOL... WE SHOULD DO IT AGAIN... The world is a nail and CodeIgniter is DEFINITELY my Hammer! LOVER CI!
