All - we seem to be suffering from the "Summer Effect" - with only 7 registered, I think we delay this event to the fall to allow for more participation, what do you all think?

I like your ideas there Wilson. Maybe it would be worth a meetup by hangout to come up with some ideas of how to incorporate remote participation. I know Doug Odegard is heading up a meeting about remote in general at the end of this month. There might be some good take ways from that, but it might be worth brainstorming before hand what would be needed for a hackathon.

I agree with Wilson and Kermit, perhaps you keep this one scheduled, and we do a follow-up in the fall... can't make the august one at the moment.

I also am interested in the possibility of remote participation, since I often am unable to attend events in person.

I'm out of town on the 27th of Aug, but this sounds fun

Yes. A fall event would be better.

I'd like to attend, but I'm in Missoula. I'd get there late, and would have to book a motel. So I'm tentative at this point.

I might be able to make this. Certainly interested in the whole idea!

I have other plans that day, but I am definitely interested in getting some traction on a project.

This sounds fun. I've participated in several hackathons. Even won one of the biggest - CES Vegas 2014. I'm tentative because it's a 7 hour drive each way from me West of Billings. So it would even be better if someone would carpool with me. If there is a way to enable virtual participation, others around the world can participate too. This may just get enough workers to get it done quickly.

Great hearing from you, Mike. A big part of the hackathon fun is the face-to-face aspect of the event. But given that, there is also the issue of skillset. A big reason for getting together is to get better at combining skills with others to achieve a result in a short period of time. Like being in a lifeboat, but without the starvation. I think it's great that you and the group want to be more inclusive.

At a mobile hackathon I helped to run at HP the video crew used. But since we're a small group, how about trying Google Hangout with video?

I plan to go to these Kalispell meetups in the future but this Friday I'm busy.

I'm going to put myself down as "tentative".
