Mardi Gras Event - Invitation to a Grand Opening Celebration!

Come celebrate Mardi Gras at the Grand Opening of this new restaurant: Café Mardi Gras. Everyone is welcome to share in this special celebration with LIVE music from the Early Jazz Band, free menu tasters, and costumed fun.

Mardi Gras is the New Orleans Carnival that starts on January 6th—Kings’ Day or the Epiphany—and culminates the day before Ash Wednesday—Mardi Gras Day— which is February 12th this year. The Carnival is a period of feasting before the fasting of Lent. Many countries and cultures celebrated this event for hundreds of years. Mardi Gras has been a part of New Orleans since before its foundation. More than 125 masked balls are held annually and over 50 parades roll through the streets during the Carnival season! So now is the perfect time to celebrate at Café Mardi Gras Chez René!

Café Mardi Gras Chez René is the realization of a dream that owner, René Brunet, had for over 20 years: to bring a little bit of his home to Montreal. René has recreated the New Orleans French Quarter atmosphere and imported New Orleans products that cannot be found anywhere else in Canada: Crystal’s Hot Sauce, Zatarain’s and Café du Monde’s Coffee, and Chicory. His authentic New Orleans cuisine has all the goodies you would find in New Orleans: PoBoys, Jambalaya, Seafood Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice, Crawfish Etouffée and homemade Beignets….

Oh… and New Orleans’ famous cocktail: the “Hurricane” !

I've sampled René's food and was delighted to find the same cuisine I experienced in Louisiana! Because I'm a Foodie, I like to support restauranteurs that bring new and authentic regional cuisines to Montreal. René has graciously allowed me to invite our Meetup group to this special occasion.
