MRUG Official October Meetup

Hello MontrealeRs,

We are very pleased to welcome back Dr. Ramnath Vaidyanathan for a talk on interactive documents as it relates to his excellent rCharts package.

Bringing a laptop to follow along is highly encouraged. I would recommend installing rCharts prior to the workshop.

# install devtools if you don't already have it installed

# install.packages('devtools')

library(devtools)

pkgs <- c('rCharts', 'slidify', 'slidifyLibraries')

install_github(pkgs, 'ramnathv', ref = 'dev')

Alternately, you would also be able to try out rCharts online at

to make it work under Debian Wheezy you need to install the system package libcurl4-gnutls-dev otherwise it complains about missing curl-config.

That is good to know. Will help me resolve installation issues on Debian Wheezy. Thanks!

Same on Ubuntu. RCurl package and R v3.0.2 would not get along, preventing devtools from installing due to dependancy issues. Pablo's suggestion should fix that though.

Apparently some issue with installing 'devtools'...
I get an error: 'there is no package called 'devtools'

    missing some preliminary step?

You can install devtools using install.packages. I have updated instructions to reflect the same.

We're on the look out for content, so if you're excited about something R/data related, get in touch with me.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
