WELCOME to the West Montreal Sunday Social Curling League

NOVICES are very welcome to join us - we will teach you the game!

Draw 1 - 4 Teams - 11am
Draw 2 - 8 Teams - 1 pm
12 full teams , 48 players and over 50 spares in support of the league.

All players and spare's wearing running shoes on the ice must have at least one GRIPPER for their footwear! SAFETY first in this League!
Curling Grippers can be purchased at the Curling Club - cost : $26
IMPORTANT: Novices will be given basic instruction, before being added to the league's sparelist. No Cost!
If anyone wants to participate in a Sunday Curling match, as a SPARE, they MUST First contact James , the player/spare coordinator at spasource@bell.net - and a timeslot for basic instruction will be scheduled!

Our MEETUP'S MIXED SOCIAL SUNDAY AFTERNOON LEAGUE CURLING is now underway for the 2023/2024 season at the Montreal West Curling Club ( 17 Ainslie in Montreal West, corner of Westminister ), on ice - 11am and 1pm , every Sunday , early October to late April of 2024 ( No Holidays )
Bar Services - Food after each game - half&half - and all equipment is supplied, Instruction for players and the spares, on a ongoing basis! Plenty of Parking.

This is a huge league , but it is a structured league , it is not drop-in curling. Once you have had your basic instruction ( its free ) , you will be asked if you want to remain on the league's sparelist. Only regular players and spares are allowed to participate in league games. You will receive calls when skips are missing lead players ( novices ) due to illness , travel etc , and you as a spare, have the option of advising that skip, Yes, I will spare for that game or No, I am unavailable, go to the next person on the spare list. . Spares are charged $10 for every game they spare in, which includes the after game lunch!. As a spare you will also be added to the email list for weekly updates regarding the league.
We do guarantee that at the September player draft for next season , you will be brought in as a regular player, if you so wish, as the Sunday League will be expanding! Cost will be approx $300 for the entire season! For more information, contact James At spasource@bell.net

What to wear when participating in a curling game

1. Bring to the curling club , in a bag, a pair of running shoes. No boots , sandals, slippers etc. The soles of the running shoes must be completely clean, so as to not deposit any dirt on the curling ice. Sliders are available at the club for those requiring a longer slide. Club Curling brooms are supplied, as well.
2. Wear jogging or sweat pants, something loose, no jeans, too constrictive.
3. Wear a sweater or light jacket, and light gloves for those whose hands get cold easily.

And most important don't forget to bring a SMILE!

Spring EASY HIKING (Boucherville Easy/WALK HIKE)

It's been many years since we were at our home at Meta 1111. And we're excited to be going back, starting on Monday, April 15. We hope to meet you there as we will laugh, breathe and have fun in the best way possible, laughing! All are welcomed.
Laughter is the full package - fun, stress-relieving, great for the mind and body, social (even online!). We are a fun-loving group of people that meet every week and use laughter as an exercise rather than a response to humour. It can feel awkward at first, but that's ok. Once we settled it in comes more naturally to laugh for no reason at all. And it becomes funny!
It's a great tool to diffuse stress and anxiety, calm, and find cracks to see the positive. Give it a try!!

Laughter Yoga will reconnect you with your breath, your inner child, improve your emotional intelligence, and allow you to reap all of the mind and body benefits of laughter that will last with you long after you leave! It can be great exercise too!

Anybody can do Laughter as exercise, any time, any place. No jokes, sense of humour, or yoga mat are required. We guide you with easy, fun exercises that promote laughter, and due to its contagious nature, this at times improvised laughter quickly becomes real. Mirthful belly laughter is a wonderful thing. Laughter yoga and laughercize (two forms of exercise through laughter) may sound a bit weird, and takes a bit of coaxing for many to come and try, but once we get rolling, it feels like the most natural exercise in town! One of my priorities is to make everyone feel comfortable and have the confidence to relax and enjoy.

The act of laughing promotes all sorts of amazing changes in the body whether it's real or fake - from decreasing nasty stress hormones that break down our immune system (adrenalin and cortisol) to increasing the happy hormones serotonin (natural pain killer) and adrenalin. Give it a try, you'll see how easy and fun it is!
