This is one of my all time favorite rides! 9+ miles of 100% single track trails meandering all through the beautiful Pines and Cedar trees. It is not overly challenging and well suited for "intermediate" level riders (not considered a beginner level ride but lower intermediate should do fine). Their are a few technical sections and a fair amount of climbing (about 1500 ft), all of which earns you some fun and fast descents. The trail is well maintained and marked. The area is just heavenly and the trail has a nice flowy, rolling feel that makes you want to come back to see if you can do it faster. The riding style is definitely more XC then anything else.
IF WEATHER PERMITS: Only if it rains will the ride be cancelled
Pollock Pines is just a 2 hour drive from Pleasanton/Dublin area, before you know it your there and this ride is worth it!!!!! (SEE MAPS BELOW). Do not drive to the lake resort boat launch area, pass it and turn left on Mormon Immigrant trail rd.
CALL OR TEXT ME [masked] if you get lost :) or need to cancel last minute! Often "we all" wait for someone that doesn't show up, so PLEASE text if you can't make it just prior to the ride!!! thank you, Kelli
The Ride - Depending on the size of the group and rider ability, we have 2 route options. We can ride the 9 mile loop or an extended loop which is more technical with a 1 mile downhill down to Jenkinson Lake. Adding this loop will make the ride a total of 14 miles of GOODNESS. Walking the steep technical stuff is just fine! Typically with a larger group, the 9 mile loop is about a 1.5 hour leisure ride for and 2.5 hours for the extended loop, both will bring GIANT smiles :)
Trail Comparison - If I were to compare this ride to any local trails in the Bay Area in terms of skill level required, I would say similar to Santa Cruz, Demo, Nicene Marks... not quite as technical as parts of Tamarancho.
Post ride lunch. After the ride we can head over to the local restaurant pub and enjoy an awesome meal and libation before heading back home!
