The start of another year for Mountain Bike Glasgow - Meet Up, and the weather, even this early is starting to improve.
Time for those fair weather cyclist to be dusting down the bikes, oiling the chains and checking the brakes.
For those that have ridden all winter, time for a spring service to get rid of the winter muck and grime.
So, where will we go and what will we do in 2012. Well, that is up to you guys, as you ARE the club.
There will of course be more of the same with the regular night rides around Glasgow and the Central Belt, and the weekend visits to the trail centres and other established Mountain Bike area's both near and far. I know we will be visiting places we have not been to before, and going back to some old favourites.
We would also be keen on organising some more beginners sessions that cover simple bike maintenance as well as introducing Mountain Biking to those less skilled, so if you have joined up and not done much Mountain Biking, this might be of interest to you. Also if you have any friends that are thinking about it, then bring them along.
Also for those that want less challenging routes, we could have rides that cover the canals and forest tracks round Glasgow and beyond, a more leisurely, sociable outing, getting those legs spinning and the fitness improved. It would also be nice to have some family outings where you could bring the kids along, as I know a lot of you have kids that cycle.
I am also looking at organising some events during Bike week in June (16th-24th), and hoping to have a full calendar of rides for that week.
As you know we have been sponsored for 2012 by The Glasgow Bike Station, and there may well be some tie in outings later in the year.
If you feel you would like to Host/Lead an outing then please let us know also, as we are keen for as many to be doing this as possible.
We also now have a Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/groups/373977609281781/#!/groups/[masked]/
If link does not work, just search Mountain Bike Glasgow Meet Up and ask to join. It is intended just for a bit of banter and not to replace the main Meet Up site. It can also be used to arrange informal or last minute rides with other members.
We would really be interested in your feedback, and knowing what YOU would like to see happen.
(Replies will come to me, Chris Dwyer and I will discuss these with the team to progress or you can post in the Discussion Message Board where all can see and this mail has been inserted)
