Free Drupal Training Day

On September 14 you can get Drupal training for FREE! The Drupal Association (https://association.drupal.org/) is organizing a worldwide training day (http://drupal.org/learn-drupal) designed to introduce people to the Drupal project. According to the Association, "these are training courses that are designed to bring a student from no Drupal knowledge to a place where they can choose to be a developer, themer, designer, site architect, engineer, etc."

When?

This Global Training Day takes place around the world on September 14, 2012. The workshop will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m, with a break in the middle for lunch.

Where?

The event place is not yet decided, we will be updating the event venue here and on Meetup Group Page (https://www.meetup.com/Mumbai-Drupalers/events/75995642/), where you will be registering for this event.

What?

We've decided the below course for now: Day 1:

Introduction to CMS Why Drupal as CMS, Comparison of Drupal with other CMS. Case studies / Sites using Drupal When to and not to use Drupal ? Where to find drupal and drupal installation Drupal terminology (e.g Nodes, Blocks, Modules, Terms, Taxonomy, Users, Comments, Entities, Fields) Overview of each item of admin menu (e.g Content, Appearance) Create and edit content Work with menus from admin Content type and its usage Block and where to find them Working with roles and users Getting a functional site set up in 30-45mins. Using contrib modules/themes/distributions, and getting community-based support Helping improve Drupal. Adding issues, testing, reviewing, documentation and translations, etc. References Day 2:

Setting up a development environment Drupal file organization Creating mandatory module files (.info file) A brief introduction to hooks / create your own hooks Demo some cool hooks and example hooks Debugging your module SimpleTests Giving back to the community ! References Using Views / Rules

Cost

There is absolutely no cost to attend, but preregistration is required. A generous amount of time and we will arrange and keep you upto date regarding the event place where you can go and have food.
