Somerville PorchFest

Update: Location

Let’s meet right outside of Porter Square Books near the Porter Square T Station at 2 PM. You’ll walk past CVS into the strip mall. Porter Square Books is to the left of Shaw’s and Tags Hardware.

I recommend using public transportation rather than parking in the shopping lot. You could get ticketed/towed if you park there, and also it is typically packed on Saturday afternoons.

Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes! The first band is shown at point A on the map below, and we will go up and down the streets toward Davis Square from there.

What’s Happening
"On Saturday, May 18th musicians and bands throughout Somerville will celebrate and utilize an underused public venue: The Porch. Acts—ranging from bollywood funk, cosmic americana, killer blues, Moroccan, Balkan, gospel, American space rock and clawhammer banjo—will serenade passersby from porches throughout Somerville." --from the /porchfest website

A map showing which bands will be playing in which areas of the cities at approximate times is in the link provided below. We'll be hitting the yellow to blue areas (yellow = 2-4PM and blue = 4-6PM).

Our Plans
Let’s meet at 2PM in the yellow section of the map (I will send an exact location later this week), and meander our way northwest.

Be sure to check out the band profiles (complete with URLs and MP3s) listed in the map link above ahead of time. If there are particular bands you'd like to hear, please leave a note in the comments section on this page by Thursday evening. I'll plan for us to hit those spots as we make our way toward Davis. Other than that, I’ll try to just be sure we hit the more densely populated areas of the map.
