This hike is crossed post with another group. I will be the hike leader for both groups.
We begin our trek up the Icehouse Canyon trail. On the first 2 miles, the trail will travel alongside the creek and several rustic lodges. Shortly pass the 2 mile marker, the trail will start to ascend steep upward through a series of switchbacks. At Chapmen Trail Junction, there is a sign pointing to various directions. We will continue upward for another .6 miles before reaching the Ice house Saddle (7580’). We will take a quick break to regroup and
prepare for another 2.4 miles on Cucamonga Peak Trail down the south east and follow up by going upward through another series of switchbacks to the Cucamonga Peak (8859 ft). The scenery continues to be breathtaking
as we traverse toward the summit. We take a 20 mins break, we will descend down the Cucamonga Peak trail toward the Ice House Saddle back to where we started.
There will be no sweeper, unless an experience hike is willing to volunteer to be a sweeper.
Recommendation: At least 3 liters of water/electrolytes, snack/lunch, hiking boots/shoes, trekking poles, Camera, sunblock, hat, layer
Direction: From 210 Freeway, exit Baseline Road. Head west on Baseline. Turn right on Pandua Road and drive 2 miles to Mt Badly Road. Continue on Badly Road until you reach Icehouse canyon parking lots. A National Forest Adventure Pass (http://www.simpsoncity.com/hiking/adventurepass.html) is required for parking. The parking lot can get full on weekends. If the parking lot is full, you can park alongside the road.
Pay close attention to the posted signs.
