Elevation Gain/Loss: 1,500 ft
Distance: 9.6 miles
Difficultly: 7/10 scale. This is an advanced hike due to SNOW and ICE.
Duration: 4-5 hours
Requirement: Winter clothing, hiking poles, Crampon or Micro spike.
The trail starts from the Dawson Saddle trail (7901’) with a steady grade incline of 1.8 miles to meet up with the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). From there we will proceed on a quick ascent to the right 0.3 of a mile to Throop Peak (9138’) before retracing our steps back to the PCT for another 1.3 miles to Mt Burnham (8997’). This section of this trail is mostly on the ridge between Sheep Mountain Wilderness and Angeles National Forest, overlooking the Mojave Desert on the North and San Gabriel Mountains on the South. We will continue on the PCT for another 1.1 miles to Mt Baden Powell (9399’). We will take a well-deserved rest at the summit for snack/lunch while enjoying the 360 degrees panoramic views, before returning the same way down.
Recommendation: At least 2 liters of water/electrolytes , snack/lunch, Hiking shoes, Trekking poles, camera.

Directions: The drive to Vincent Gap is far. Be sure to provide extra time for
traffic. Carpooling is highly recommended. A National Forest Adventure Pass (http://www.simpsoncity.com/hiking/adventurepass.html) is required for parking at the trailhead.
From I-210, exit Angeles Crest highway (2), drive an approximately
50.3 miles on Hwy 2 to Vincent gap parking lot.
The parking lot is on your right.
From I-15, take the CA-138 (W) exit toward Palmdale and travel 8.6
miles on the CA-138 to the junction with the Angeles Crest Highway (2).
Continue on Angeles Crest Highway (2) for another 14. Vincent Gap parking lot is on your left.
