7 Miles Round Trip
4 to 5 Hours
2300ft Elevation Gain
Level 6 Hike - Intermediate
Description
We will all meet at the west side of the parking lot near the trail. From there we will hike 2.5 miles to our first rest stop at the old cabin ruins. We will rest for 15 minutes and then hike the “longest one mile” you have ever seen. It really does feel like a long “one” mile. Its all uphill so you will feel it the next day. The last 100 feet is a steep climb to the top of Jones Peak. We will take a break on top and then its all downhill for the next 3.5 miles back to the parking lot. This hike is very similar to the “Echo Mountain” hike. But it is far more shaded and scenic.
Directions
From the 210 freeway you will exit Baldwin Ave and head north. If you are coming from the west, you will exit Baldwin ave, turn left, then make a left at the light. Then make a right at the next stop. From here you drive 1 mile to then end and turn left onto W Carter Ave. Drive ¼ of a mile and you will see Bailey Canyon Park on your right. If the parking lot is full then park on Grove St paying close attention to signs.
What To Bring
Water – Snacks – Camera – Sunscreen – Hiking Sticks
