Hike up the Creek to Under Brandywine Falls

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE DESCRIPTION!!  SUBJECT TO CANCELLATION IF WATER IS TOO HIGH!!

We will start in the Brandywine Falls parking lot and walk down the Gorge Trail to the creek crossing.  At this point we will start hiking up the creek, in the water!  I'm not sure how long the creek walk is but the hike will take 1-2 hours in the water.  We will go all the way to almost under Brandywine Falls.  If you have ever looked down from the stairs, looking up is a whole new view.  We will then walk back down the creek and finish the Gorge loop back to the parking lot. Be sure to wear shoes that you can get wet.  The rocks are very slippery!!  There are many beautiful picture opportunities but there is a chance you may fall and get wet, so please make sure your electronics are in a waterproof container or plastic bags.  The pace in the water will be slow but somewhat dangerous. Please be sure when you sign up that you are comfortable walking on unstable, wet, rocky ground.

Afterwards, we can eat at Pat Dee's in Northfield.

As always, hike at your own risk.

So far so good, I think water lever should be ok. Fyi, starting location is off of Brandywine Rd, GPS map link is accurate.

Here is the route we took on the scouting trip last year. As you can see, we spent a lot of time in the creek part of the hike. It is very beautiful and there is a lot to see. So in addition to the sometime dangerous footing, you'll want to take your time and take it all in..

We actually hiked more mileage IN the creek than we did before and after the creek. About 2 miles in the creek. 1.5 miles out of the creek.

My profile picture is a photo I took last year when we did this hike... At this point we were on the way to the fall- you will actually get a lot closer to the fall. I also posted another picture under my profile - Dan climbing rocks - to show it's not just walking through water but you will be climbing rocks a little bit too.

We did this last year and it was so much fun!! But I must say you have to do this at your own risk. Some rocks are extremely slippery with fine moss growing on them but they are under water so you can't really see...

The Brandywine Gorge Trail is 1.5 miles. I don't know how long the creek is, may about 3/4 of a mile each way.
