CryptInject: Providing a Cryptography Toolbox to Developers
Details
Abstract
Increasing concerns over privacy and data security over the last few years has kept the topic of cryptography in the news, and on everyone’s minds. For many developers, cryptography is simply a black box that magically works -- or breaks, since implementation can be so tricky. Building up a cryptography toolbox with various data protection strategies is the ultimate goal of CryptInject; to provide a “one-stop shop” for data security in C# applications. CryptInject allows a developer to insert a shim around existing data structures that will implicitly provide cryptography for sensitive data, and provides ways to protect it from various types of attacks. I’ll discuss how this solution is accomplished, as well as some security enhancements that are provided with the package, and why leveraging these concepts can help save your company from a data breach.
