Two years ago, I bought a digital camera that was able to shoot underwater photos. It was during a vacation in Mexico, sticking my camera into tide pools, that I discovered a new world. I saw many strange-looking creatures; feathery and iridescent plant life, beautiful shells and colorful corals. This made me start thinking of the early natural historians who discovered previously unknown species and how thrilling that must have been. Since that time, I decided to focus my photographic work on my interest in natural history.
